Third workshop report

The full report from the third of our six scheduled regional stakeholder group workshops is now available.

The workshop marked a major milestone for the Irish Sea Conservation Zones project, as the members of the regional stakeholder group identified the first locations for potential Marine Conservation Zones in the Irish Sea project area.

The locations are shown in our first progress report. However, please note that the potential locations are highly tentative and liable to change over the course of the next two progress reports.

The workshop was held on July 15th at Ribby Hall near Preston.

The 39 members of the regional stakeholder group are the people who will come up with recommendations for the sites, sizes and shapes of Marine Conservation Zones in the Irish Sea project area.

The role of the Irish Sea Conservation Zones team is to support the regional stakeholder in making its recommendations and to let people know about the project and how it might affect them.

The regional stakeholder group will meet next for a two-day workshop on October 14-15th.

They will produce two more progress reports before their final recommendations for Marine Conservation Zones are submitted to the government on June 1st next year.

Even if you are not on the stakeholder group, you can have your say on Marine Conservation Zones in the Irish Sea project area by contacting either your sector spokesperson or one of our liaison officers.
